How to move a piano in the UK
Pianos need specialists. Here is what it costs and why it is worth it.
Upright vs grand
Upright: 200–300 kg, usually two specialists, £200–£500. Grand: 300–500 kg, three or four specialists, dismantling required, £400–£1,200.
Why not a regular removals firm?
Pianos are off-balance, expensive to repair, and easy to damage. Specialist piano movers use skids, dollies and stair-climbing equipment.
Tuning after the move
Pianos always need re-tuning 4–6 weeks after a move. Budget £80–£150.
