Moving fragile items: artwork, mirrors, TVs
Artwork and screens need different treatment than the rest of your stuff. Here is the right way.
Pictures and mirrors
Tape an X across the glass to hold shards if it cracks. Wrap in bubble wrap, then sandwich between cardboard sheets.
Picture/mirror boxes from £4 each — buy one per item over £100 in value.
TVs
Original box wins every time. Otherwise: bubble wrap the screen, cardboard sheet front and back, into a TV box. Always transport upright.
Antiques and art
Specialist art shippers (Constantine, Cadogan Tate) for anything truly valuable. £150–£500 per piece for proper crating.
FAQ
Can a normal removals firm move a TV?
Yes — but their insurance usually excludes screens unless you use the original box.
Should I lay a TV flat in transit?
No, always upright. LCD/OLED panels can crack from lying flat.
