Moving house checklist: 8 weeks to moving day
Eight weeks out, the move feels manageable. One week out, it does not. Stick to this list.
Weeks 8–6
Get 3 quotes from movers. Book one. Notify your council, HMRC, DVLA. Order packing supplies.
Weeks 5–3
Declutter. Sell or donate anything you do not love. Start packing non-essentials: books, decor, out-of-season clothes.
Weeks 2–1
Notify utilities, bank, GP, dentist, schools. Pack everything except essentials. Confirm mover arrival window.
Moving day
Strip beds last. Pack an essentials box (kettle, mugs, toilet roll, phone chargers, bedding for night 1).
