What to do if your parcel arrives damaged

Damaged parcels are usually claimable — but only if you document it right within 14 days.

Photograph everything before opening

External damage photos are essential. Most couriers reject claims where you cannot prove the box was damaged on arrival.

Keep all packaging

Couriers may ask to inspect packaging. Do not bin anything for at least 30 days.

Submit within 14 days

Most UK couriers have a 14-day claim window. Royal Mail allows 80 days but compensation drops over time.

FAQ

What if I signed for the parcel before noticing damage?

Mark damaged on the digital signature next time. If you already signed clean, claim anyway with packaging photos — most couriers accept it.

Do I get a full refund?

Yes if insured to value. Standard service caps at £20–£50 compensation.
