How to send wine, beer and alcohol by courier in the UK
Sending alcohol within the UK is legal but most couriers restrict it. Here is what you can and cannot do.
Who accepts alcohol?
Parcelforce, DPD and most dedicated-driver services accept alcohol for UK delivery with no special licence for personal-quantity gifts.
Royal Mail and Evri do not accept any alcohol.
Packing wine and bottles
Use a proper wine shipper box with moulded pulp inserts. Wrap each bottle in bubble wrap and tape the cap. Mark the box 'this way up' and pad the top.
International is different
Sending alcohol abroad triggers excise duty and licensing in most countries. Use a specialist wine shipper, not a parcel courier.
FAQ
Can I send beer through Royal Mail?
No. Royal Mail prohibits all alcohol.
What if a bottle breaks?
